Turquoise is one of those colors every girl needs in her wardrobe. I don’t know if it’s the native Arizonan in me, but that color instantly makes happy! I love this flannel from Treasure&Bond. It’s lightweight, which makes it wearable in the summer, and can be layered and styled so many ways! I’ve already worn it around my waist, over tanks, and on its own. I picked up this one from their line as well, and it’s currently 40% off! These pumps are no joke one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve ever worn. I’ve got to hand it to Sarah Jessica Parker, she has come a long way since her “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” days. Sure, there were a few bumps in the road of her acting career, I’m looking at you, “Failure to Launch” and “I Don’t Know How She Does It.” But really, if you’re not thinking about her eclectic wardrobe and infamous Manolo’s on Sex and the City, you’re doing it wrong. And her line, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, does it right.

Well, I better get packing! I’m off to Hawaii for a full week of soaking up the sun on a tropical island of paradise to celebrate my graduation. My inner mermaid is basically jumping out of her fin. 😉

Mermaid Sequins

I was lucky enough to get to style a few pieces from the LA based company, Chloe Oliver. The brand toes the line effortlessly between timeless, vintage classics while pushing the envelope with trendy, unique pieces. From their website: “Chloe Oliver as a brand seeks to provide women with go-to statement pieces that are as wearable as they are irreplaceable.” I couldn’t agree more, because that’s exactly how I felt when I spotted the sequined Nadia Track Skirt. Well, after I thought it looked exactly like a mermaid tail, if it were a mini skirt. I wanted this skirt to take center stage, so I paired it with a creamy silk button down and nude pumps.

Get excited because through the month of May, our lovely readers can use the code “CO*Desertmermaids” to get 25% off their order! Krystal also received a couple pieces to style from their line, so stay tuned for the next feature with Chloe Oliver!

Preppy Grunge

IMG_6111 IMG_6146 IMG_6115 IMG_6125 IMG_6123 IMG_6169 IMG_6156 IMG_6158 IMG_6175 IMG_6164 IMG_6166 Sweater: Wildfox | Shorts: Levi’s | Sneaks: Converse | Clutch: Clare V. | Necklace: Blee Inara | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Lippie: MAC “Brave” + “Velvet Teddy” + Liner: MAC “Whirl” | Nails: OPI “Alpine Snow

I saw this sweater at Nordstrom and couldn’t whip out my card fast enough. I already have a few other pieces from the Wildfox x Barbie line seen here and here, but couldn’t resist the darker, edgier feel that emulated from this sweater. I always say my husband is the “Ken to my Barbie” so I thought it was perfect! I may have caved and purchased the hot-pink color as well. I can’t contain myself when it comes to Barbie! It’s really weird, but every time I see anything with the doll’s memorabilia, a squeal from a 5-year-old girl starts ringing in my ears, and then I realize it’s me. That shrill scream is coming from my 24-year-old self. I’m screaming. Out loud. I don’t know if it is the consumerism-style fashion that I have become accustomed to, or if it is just a childhood-fantasy never to depart from my ever-aging body. Probably the latter, since the Barbie aisle at Target is still my favorite. But I promise the infatuation isn’t as intense this girl‘s… How is that even humanly possible?

On another note, I’m graduating today! Typing those words is a bit surreal, because it never seemed this day would come! Yet here I am, and I have to say it’s bittersweet. On on hand, I’m ecstatic that this chapter of my life has come to a close. Yet on the other, although I can’t fathom those emotions right now, there’s a nagging feeling that I’m going to look back on this time with longing. As of right now, it’s 99.9% pure bliss. I’ll keep you posted for when that other 0.1% of wistfulness draws near. I wouldn’t bet on it anytime soon though! To celebrate, my husband, our favorite couple, and I will be heading to Hawaii for one whole week of euphoria. I’ve never been, but I already know I’m going to be in “kalani,” as the ocean is my serenity. Have you ever been to Hawaii? What are some things I “must do” while there?

Lady in Red

We heart Junie Blake! IMG_6103 Dress: Junie Blake | Belt: Nordstrom (similar) | Sandals: Target | Bag: Calvin Mitchell | Sunnies: Céline | Necklace: Kate Spade, Michael Kors (similar), Bip & Bop | Bracelets: Paint The Town Me, Stella & Dot, Alex & Ani (here, here & here) | Nails: OPI “Alpine Snow
Lippie: NARS “Heat Wave” + Liner: MAC “Trust in Red

The fit and flare cut is hands-down my favorite dress style! It is so flattering on my body-type and I’m convinced it’s flattering on every body type since it focuses on the slimmest part of your body, your waist! This one from Junie Blake features pleats, pockets and a forgiving fabric! All of which are excellent qualities in one dress alone! It can be difficult to find dresses that aren’t basically minis, especially for me since my legs are long for my height! This one hits right at the knee, making it acceptable for church or anywhere else you don’t want to show too much leg! Junie Blake has so many other styles and options! I’ve had my eye on this one; I think it would be perfect for summer when the only thing I want to wear is a dress!

Arizona Sunsets

IMG_6035 Dress: Junieblake (℅) | Shoes: Vince Camuto (love these) | Belt: Vintage | Purse: Vintage Dooney & Burke | Rings: Paint The Town Me (℅) | Sunnies: Michael Kors (love these) | Lips: ABH

I love me some Arizona sunsets! Mix that with a desert landscape and you get a breathtaking backdrop! I thought this striped fit and flare dress from Junieblake complimented the natural background seamlessly. It just screams summer with the light-weight fabric and crisp white stripes against faded denim. I played on the chambray element and added a vintage leather belt with an oversized buckle and strappy leather sandals to complete this western look. Stripes are a timeless trend, probably because they make it so easy to mix and match with varying prints and patterns. What is your favorite go-to pattern?
