I start my final fall semester tomorrow! I’m so excited to see what this semester has in store for me, but I’m going to miss this summer even more. I’m such a summer girl and am never ready for fall and winter. So I’m trying to hold on the last and final shreds of it while I still can. This dress is so summery and bright and will always remind me of this special trip with my sister, Krystal, and my little brother in California.
This dress is simply amazing! I thought it would go perfectly with nude, strappy heels and these ones are super sexy and affordable. Steve Madden always pulls through, and I have many, many shoes from his line to prove it. I’m listening to the new Coldplay album while writing this post and this song featuring Rihanna is on repeat. It reminds my of my trip to California a few weeks ago with two of my siblings because we were playing it constantly. I think it totally fits the mood of this cigarette dress as well.
I also am loving how my pastel, purple hair pops against the pinks, blues and greens in this dress and picks up the purple hues too. It was still wet (my hair takes FOREVER to dry) so Krystal whipped it into this messy Dutch braid for the pictures. Braids are so great because even when they are meant to look undone, they still appear polished.

Let me tell you, I LOVE a good one-piece! I mean LOVE. And you simply can’t go wrong with a black and white print! So a black and white one-piece is an all around win-win in my book! #WINNING! My absolute favorite thing about one-pieces though are their versatility. They can be sexy, demure, comfortable or just plain convenient. (Like on those days you’re already bloated but that burrito washed down with a coke from lunch makes you look 6 months pregnant. No? Just me? Okay moving on…) It honestly just depends on what purpose you want it to serve. This one I’m currently wearing has a low-cut back, which is flattering for my body type. It also features an adorable bow that ties around the neck! The one thing about swimsuits, I’m sure most of you can attest to this, is that you have to try on many before you find that perfect fit. But once you do, you just know it’s the one for you! 😉

We stayed near a dock during our vacation in California. All of the white boats and yachts of varying sizes sitting on the water was so picturesque and calming. We decided it would be a perfect background for an outfit post and walked over (it was literally steps from our door) to snap a few pictures. How easy is a one-piece playsuit? Well, you basically just throw it on, add some accessories and boom you have a fab outfit in 10 minutes! I have had this Ted Baker piece for a little while so unfortunately it is sold out. Luckily, there are so many jumpsuits out on the market right now. I am dying to get my hands on this one and this one . My advice is to get in your car and head to the nearest department store or do what I do and online shop and get yourself an amazing jumpsuit that you feel fierce in and work it!

If I had to choose, my favorite article of clothing would be a dress. You don’t have to worry about pulling on jeans, zipping up zippers or buttoning up tops. You can just throw this on and run out the door. I’m usually in a hurry when I get dressed because I always seem to be short on time aka fashionably late. Living in a desert that gets up to 115 like it’s no big deal is another reason… but I don’t like to dwell on that.
This Topshop dress is my current favorite. The second I laid eyes on it it screamed Taylor Swift. It has a vintage feel, is a fit & flare and it’s red! I then had to pair it with it’s perfect counterpart, oxfords! These are SO comfortable and unique plus I love how they contradict the feminine frock. I’m normally a flip flops kind of gal for the same reasons mentioned above: they’re super fast to slip on plus they’re not as stuffy… so sandals usually win. But I definitely think these oxfords are worth spending an extra minute or two lacing up.

I’m a huge fan of accessories for a multitude of reasons! Not only are they gorgeous to look at, but they take an über casual look, like jeans and a tee, and instantly dress it up! And not to brag, but my earrings still fit from high school. Okay I actually stole that quote from the internet, but it’s hilarious and totally true! Most jewelry will always fit even if those those extremely low-cut Hollister short shorts from high school don’t. Ahem. Therefore, you can feel less guilty about how much you end up shelling out for a faux crystal statement necklace that was probably made in China… not speaking from experience or anything. 😉
Here’s my take on dressed up basics!
