I still remember the very first time I learned about the musical and arts festival. It was six years ago (which was 2009 for those of you that are mathematically challenged) and during my senior year of high school. An acquaintance of mine and her friend started talking excitedly about this mysterious place that I had never heard of before. They described the location of this event that occurred in Indio Valley as, “Coachella.” Considering the year, the fact that I never heard the term before, and because they started rambling on about the incredible fashion there, I summed it up to basically a swap meet of hippies hawking designer Coach handbags in the middle of the desert on the way to California from Arizona. I blame them for their lackadaisical description, not my wandering mind taking off into a sea of beige and brown Coach purses which I couldn’t afford.

Flash forward a few years later and I started seeing the word, “Coachella” splashed across trashy magazines at the check-out line featuring the rich and famous wearing bohemian-chic attire. I immediately felt sheepish for writing it off as a nondescript Coach outlet and started paying more attention to the fashion it was inspiring. Crop tops! Floral print! Over-sized sunglasses! Distressed high-waist shorts! Fringe! Crochet! And the flower crowns, oh how the flower crowns where everywhere and on everyone. Soon, it was acceptable to wear this flower-child garb in every-day life. Yes, even the flower-crowns were dubbed worthy of grocery shopping. However, now that I am aware of the greatness that composes Coachella, (innumerable celebrity spottings anyone?) I now must attend this Coachella. But alas, tickets are too expensive and I’m a newly married college student.

But I can still pretend, imagination is free after all. So, if I were at Coachella right now, which I’m not, this is what I would be wearing. What would you be wearing, or what did you wear/are you wearing if you’re in attendance right now? Tell me, I won’t be insurmountably jealous. Promise.
