We took these photos right outside our villa in Newport, but it looks so lush and green it could pass for Hawaii! The grounds at the Marriott Newport Coast Villas are always impeccable! I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay there a few times before with my family because my aunt has a timeshare there. This time it was just Krystal, myself and two other sisters who stayed there, and we definitely enjoyed each others’ company spending quality time with one another! I was worried that it might be overcast the entire time we would be there due to “June Gloom,” but it was surprisingly sunny and warm except for the very last day, so I was a happy girl. My only complaint about this trip would have to be that I forgot my black aviator Ray-Bans in the room. I know, cry me a river but I hate losing stuff, it makes me go berserk (who even uses that word anymore?) thinking of all the possible places it could be. I find solace knowing my lost goods shall one day be reunited with me in heaven. Actually, that’s most definitely false but it gives me a shred of peace so don’t burst my bubble, mmkay pumpkin?

I die for this bikini, but it’s made by Bikini Lab so no shocker there! I must have caught the fuchsia fever because this whole look is monochromatic. Speaking of purple shades, I did a purple wash right before this trip and you can definitely tell in these photos! If you’re a blonde and don’t know what that is, don’t worry, I got you boo. In fact, I’m going dedicate a post solely to hair just for you. I’ll also be doing a skin secrets post next and a make-up post (tutorial if I’m feelin’ frisky) after that because I have a yearning desire to spread the love and share all my tips.

Ombré Effect

It’s no secret that I have a love affair with rompers! I honestly couldn’t resist this one by Chloe Oliver because the ombré effect reminded me of an orange creamsicle, which is the essence of all things summer wrapped up in one popsicle. I’m sure I could have tried a little harder to resist adding one more romper to my closet, but those bell sleeves and that open back though! It was the perfect get-up for outdoor shopping at Fashion Island in Newport: Sunny, but not too hot, with a cool breeze. I would much rather be in California than stuck sweating it out in this heat wave in Arizona. The struggle is really real right now, wish us luck!

I’m so bummed that this is my last outfit post from Hawaii, but this was a day full of adventure! First we went out to breakfast, like we did every day, and drove to North Shore and watched the enormous waves and surfers trying to dominate them. Then we ventured over to Kualoa Beach Park to get a closer look at Mokoliʻi, formerly known as Chinaman’s Hat. This was one of the busier beaches we visited, with a lot of people barbecuing, kayaking or snorkeling. Unfortunately, it was windy and overcast that day, so we didn’t get to soak up much sun, but still, a beautiful day in Oahu! I still can’t believe it has almost been a month since I left for this tropical paradise! My husband and I have been talking about going back since the day we came home. We’ve since watched “Aloha” and “Jurassic World”, which was filmed in Hawaii, since retuning and it’s only feeding our wanderlust. We decided that since we stayed on the main island the whole week, the next time we go to Hawaii we want to go to Maui or Kauai. But either way, we’ll be back Hawaii, don’t you worry.

I loved dressing in colorful, tropical outfits in Hawaii. This buttery-soft silk shirtdress was one of the first things I packed because I was specifically saving it for Hawaii! I also couldn’t forget my starfish headband and yet another pair of starfish sandals. I might have a slight obsession with starfish, but doesn’t every mermaid?

Tide Pools

Remember those tide pools I was talking about? These ones were up higher so we were able to access them without having to snorkel. In Mexico, one of my favorite things to do since I was a little girl was to venture back down to the beach at low tide and peek at all the critters that had been covered by the ocean hours before. The reef here was composed of an opaque volcanic rock, which revealed crabs and fish amongst other sea creatures scurrying away as soon as they saw your shadow or felt the weight of your footstep. From there, you can see the lighthouse in the background, which is party of the Makapu’u Point Trail that Todd and I hiked.

This chiffon dress from Shabby Apple was light and breezy, which made it ideal for exploring. These combat boots weren’t well-equipped for wandering on top of slippery, porous rocks due to their rubber soles, though. And I was careful to avoid getting the leather wet when the waves crashed up the sides, but one caught me off guard and splashed me when my back was turned. But luckily, they were fine. 🙂

Retro Cuts

One of our favorite beaches to go to while in Hawaii was Makapu’u Beach. It has gorgeous white sand, black lava rocks and little tide pools which are perfect for snorkeling. It also offers stunning views of Makapu’u Point, which Todd and I hiked at sunset, and its lighthouse. While the beach is small and secluded, it’s known for its rip currents and powerful shore breaks so it was great for body surfing or boogie boarding. In fact, most of the people that were there were locals. The first day was overcast and cloudy, and as we were walking down to the beach it began to rain! But we were determined to make the most out of it and later all agreed that swimming in the ocean while it was raining was one of the highlights of our trip! That same day while we were waiting for the right wave to come, out pops a seal a couple yards away. It was so close to some of the riders they could have reached out and touched it. Everyone was in awe watching it bob up and down, in and out of the ocean.

The tropical print of this swimsuit could not have been more fitting for the location! I love the retro cut, and the high-waisted bottoms with ruched sides are so flattering! Plus, its style name is “Hot & Gold” which I took as a nod to Katy Perry’s song, “Hot N Cold” and her limitless supply of vintage bikinis. Anything Katy, I’m sold.
