I’m all about that plaid life! In my opinion, everyone needs to have a go-to plaid shirt because the styling options are endless! I can honestly say they have been a staple in my wardrobe as of late. Well, I hope everyone has a great week filled with fun! I know I will because my sister brought a new little baby boy into this world and he is absolutely adorable!

I hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day! My husband and I both had the day off from work and it has been so relaxing! A lot has transpired since my last post, most importantly, I started my new job, which I’m loving, and my yorkie, Lola, had her puppies! It’s a pretty crazy story actually. On Sunday night, the night before I started my new job, I had a feeling that she would have her puppies soon. She had started to portray the tell-tale signs of nesting over the past week such as furiously digging in her whelping box. But at around midnight that night she began panting and I knew it was going to happen that night. I stayed up with her until 1:30 a.m. but not much activity had occurred, and since I had to be up at 6:30 a.m. for my new job, I decide to try and get some sleep. I woke up in a panic at around 2:30 a.m. and ran out to see if she had made any progress. I looked inside her whelping box and inside was a tiny, glossy black puppy nestled right into her and she was in the process of pushing out the second! I had read numerous articles, watched multiple videos online in order to prepare myself for this, i.e. what materials to have on hand, what to look out for, when to step-in if needed, but she really didn’t need my assistance at all! The only thing that I did was rub them with a towel to make sure they were nice and dry and that all of the sac came off, used an aspirator to remove any left-over amniotic fluid from their mouths and snout, cut their umbilical cords if Lola didn’t chew them off close enough, and tied floss around them to stop the bleeding. I took her to the vet two days in a row just a few days prior because she was experiencing alarming symptoms such as loose stools, nausea, loss of appetite, but they turned out to be regular pregnancy symptoms. I also had them give her an X-Ray and was able to see three little puppies in her belly! I originally wasn’t going to get one, but in hindsight, I’m glad I did because it gave me peace of mind during her labor. I was worried about the last one, though, because the X-Ray showed one of them was going to be breech. But she pushed out the last one with ease and within 30-45 minutes of me waking up. I also had an inkling that she was going to have three puppies, and I told everyone in my family that if she did, and there were two boys and one girl, I was going to name them after my three grandparents that had passed away. Well, she had exactly two boys and one girl, so I named them Ernest, Marvin and Ilene! Ernest is the smallest, Marvin is the biggest and Ilene is the girl in between! My life these last two weeks has consisted of waking up, checking on Lola/puppies, going to work, coming home and checking on Lola/puppies. But I’m soaking up every minute and enjoy watching them eat/sleep! They’re exactly two weeks old today and all three of them have opened their eyes now, so the fun stage is coming soon!

Today is officially the last day of summer for me since I am going to be starting a new job tomorrow! I’m going to be working for Shop Priceless, and I’m eager to begin working somewhere that I can explore my creative side with fashion while also continuing to pursue my passion for writing!

On another note, my AKC Yorkshire terrier, Lola, (featured as my valentine here) is currently pregnant with three puppies! We bred her with another handsome yorkie back in June and she is 59 days pregnant, so she’s going to have them any day now! My husband, Todd, is going to work from home so someone is there just in case she has them during the day, but I’m praying she has them when I come home from work because I want to be a part of it! I’m pumped because this will be my first time witnessing an animal of any kind giving birth! I have always wanted to breed puppies since I was little and envied my friends who had litters of puppies at their house that they could play with and help raise! I think it is going to be such a rewarding experience, and I hope I can find owners who are ready to receive the same type of unconditional love and affection from the puppies that my little yorkie has shown me these past two years! I am 100% a crazy dog lady, and proud of it!

There is just something so magical about an all-white outfit. I love when I see it on other people and yet I never really tried it myself so I decided to go for it and I am definitely going to do it more often. Also, I can’t get enough of braids! Fishtails, French braids, Dutch braids,  etc.  They are my go-to on work days, second day hair, damaged hair, healthy hair, long hair, short hair, a date night… the list could go on and on! And with so many tutorials our there, the possibilities are endless! What style of braid can you not get enough of?

Chambray Romper

Denim and turquoise are the quintessential Western accessories. As Arizonans, we are lucky to have so much access to authentic Native American turquoise in many regions throughout the state. Which is how I have come to collect several pieces within the span of 24 years. My brother-in-law is Navajo, and one of my rings was actually made by his grandfather. It has an intricate floral and leaf design in the sterling silver and the turquoise takes on a unique shade of teal. My tiny turquoise earrings were a gift from my own grandpa after his trip to Sedona, and the other dark blue turquoise ring is from a visit in Greer. My turquoise jewelry are my treasures, each of them tells a story, contains a memory and a holds feeling. All of them tie me to my native state, and give me pride when I put them on.

You know what else I treasure? This unbelievably comfortable chambray romper. It’s so soft and light-weight, which is a relief because these rising temperatures wouldn’t comply with anything heavier. I love the rope drawstring waist too because I will never object to any form of waist cinching since I wasn’t blessed with the longest of torsos and I’m not 5’10”. So I’ll take any chance I can get to accentuate it, otherwise I’m drowning in yards of fabric. Speaking of waist cinchers, have any of you tried those waist trainers? I am tempted to try them but then I hear the horror stories of how it can cause your organs to shift with potentially dangerous consequences. Yeah, I think I’ll stick to my belts and drawstrings for now.
